Applications of Bioaugmentation & Biomass Management

 Aster Bio produces biological cultures designed to change the population makeup of wastewater systems, soils, and other applications requiring microbial activity.  Using cultures selected for fast or unique metabolism (r (fast growing) vs K(unique) strategist microbes), Aster Bio changes the treatment unit population dynamics.  Sample applications include:
  • Fat & Grease reduction in collection systems - prevent sanitary sewer overflow (SSO)
  • Reduce odors from H2S and volatile organic acids via stopping their formation and removing odor causing compounds present.
  • Help control effluent solids (TSS) & reduce sludge production in wastewater systems and lagoons
  • Enhance BOD/COD/TOC removal by improving active biomass kinetics
  • Lower effluent toxicity caused by complex organics
  • Degrade petroleum hydrocarbons & various organic contaminants in soils & groundwater
  • Remove ammonia, nitrate, nitrite & phosphorus as a part of biological nutrient removal (BNR)
